Indoor Air Quality Testing

Shiva Analyticals' Indoor Air Quality Inspections collect information regarding the levels of various indoor pollutants and suggest corrective and preventive actions for the improvement of indoor air.

The quality of air inside buildings is represented by concentrations of pollutants and thermal (Temperature and Relative Humidity) conditions that affect the health, comfort, and performance of occupants.

Acceptable Indoor Environment Quality

“Air in which there are no known contaminants at harmful concentrations as determined by cognizant authorities and with which a substantial majority (80% or more) of the people exposed do not express dissatisfaction.” - ASHRAE 62.1 2007

Indoor air quality is a key factor in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the users in the buildings. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concedes that about 30% of new or renovated buildings have serious indoor air quality problems (IAQ), and ranks IAQ as the most prominent environmental problem. There is a growing concern about the quality of the air we breathe and the concept of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and Building Related Illness (BRI) are gaining attention each day.

Therefore it is recommended that the air for human consumption must be analyzed periodically and systematically to minimize any noxious effects because people are spending more than 90 percent of their time indoors.

Shiva Analyticals performs a range of Environment Services and Indoor Air Quality is one of the key areas of focus.

All indoor air quality checks have to be compared with international norms like ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers), and other available international standards like OSHA (U.S. Department of Labour Occupational Safety & Health Administration), American Conference of Industrialist Hygienists (ACGIH), and the World Health Organization. The primary objective of the assignment is to provide a reliable and valid test result of indoor air & provide suggestions to improve quality at your Home & Workplace.
